Yeah, that would give NVidia such a support and reported bugs headache from everyday users, Inspector will still be needed by tweakers.

DDU > 551.61 > Nvidia App is crashing.

Seems logical since its just launched, looking forward for more updates.

No, its not. the nvcp will never be replaced by a a bloated piece of junk like this.

Doesn't even let you opt out of installing the problematic virtual audio driver or services

(PS, Nvidia will be required to maintain the NVCP due to DCH requirements, read them, Geforce App cannot be provided on Microsoft store as CEF based apps cannot be appropriately certified and lacks API compatibility with the win32 bridge - Nvidia would have had to make this app as a WPF/Dotnet applet with the CEFClient bridge to be HSA compatible)

no it won't, improvement doesn't exist in the UX design over utility 21st century.

Glad to see some sanity in this thread. I should have came to this thread instead of trying to reason in "Frontpage news". This is pretty worrisome what Nvidia is doing. Looks like this is their way to force more people into Geforce Experience app. I hope you are right that Nvidia will have to keep maintaining og NVCP, or at least offer some alternatives. Right now we can install or not install GFE. But with this move it seems Nvidia wants everyone to use GFE (aka Nvidia app).

If it doesn't i will be starting up a github project to reimplement the classic utilitarian nvcp in winui3 without the bottlenecks of the bridge api's causing slowness.

New NVIDIA app is great, this is exactly what I wanted (merging the old shitty Control Panel and GFE). Tried RTX HDR at my brother's house and it worked great, also tried the app on my Surface Laptop Studio and stuff like Battery Boost etc. is all there alongside the old stuff from the Control Panel.

As NVIDIA pointed out in their blog, the Control Panel and GFE will go away once the NVIDIA app leaves Beta, but you most likely will be able to install the old Control through the MSIX as distributed per the Microsoft Store for a long time, it will just eventually break when the NVIDIA driver changes internal functions.

Really couldn't be happier. Also like that NVIDIA FrameView is integrated in the Overlay and a simple performance overlay can be activated with Alt + R. I usually use the Xbox Game Bar performance overlay.

Good news on RTX HDR, I'll wait unitl the new App is out of beta. Questions for anyone using it:

    1) Can you still use Reshade when Freestyle filters are active? Since Crosire developed Freestyle for Nvidia as an official implementation of Reshade, albeit with limited shaders, I wonder if they conflict.
    2) For anyone currently using NvTrueHDR and using the Nvidia Inspector definition file to enable RTX HDR in games -- does tweaking these Inspector settings affect RTX HDR from the App?

Also this is from the RTX HDR requirements:

    * Dynamic Super Resolution, NVIDIA Image Scaling and Fast Sync should be disabled

However I'm using NvTrueHDR with DLDSR at the moment without issue. I hope this doesn't change as a result of the App.

EDIT: From emoose NvTrueHDR author on NexusMods:

Seems it may be driver-based vs filter-based, with NvTrueHDR being a bit more flexible atm (multi-monitor, DSR, quality settings etc)

I must admit that I am slightly terrified by the actions that nvidia has made over the past dozen or so weeks. Recently, they ****** up something with drivers, starting from the 55x series, ending with today's frack-up of application control, why the hell they merge this GeForce Experience with app control. I like the old form of the app and I don't want any changes. As for the screw-up of the 55x drivers, they did something to vsync because the games that worked stably on the older drivers work terribly after installing the new ones. For the first time ever for almost 20 years i was forced to downgrade drivers.... The last stable driver for me is 546.65, the games run stably on it, the fps stays perfectly even, the GPU clocks have the appropriate value, i.e. 2610 - 2625 MHz in low latency or reflex. After installing the new 551 drivers, something is going wrong and the clocks are low and the fps jumps terribly... Problem is with games dx 11 , 12 api with vulkan everything is fine .I'm worried whether they will fix it, I don't really understand what the problem is.

Like I said before, the nvcp will probably be hidden away behind a reg edit. All the wording points towards them replacing nvcp and gfe with this all in one app.

This is like that time when you said that nvidia would never do something like this, and yet here we are. The vast majority of people will use this app and all development time will get poured into what is most popular.

Sometimes the negativity shown from you, the abrupt and sometimes arrogant responses are getting tiresome. Seriously, go outside and meet people. It might turn you into a nicer person to engage with.

If nVidia puts a good deal of effort into the nVidia app I am sure it can become as good or even better than AMD Adrenaline which I absolutely adore and have had zero issues with over the past four years. It's great to see nVidia taking the feedback that clearly the majority of people want a modern control panel with the feature set that AMD provides. nVidia can't be seen as number two in anything which they clearly are in the control panel department. I hope this is a good thing and we are all in for a much needed treat.
I wonder if they will be able to make it good enough like AMD Adrenaline that I won't need to use MSI AB anymore for overclocking/undervolting, fan curve, and metrics overlay. MSI AB is excellent but I do prefer not having to have extra apps when it could be all in one like AMD provides. I am going to hold off on using it as it is too early beta days for me to care but in a few months or when people say it's getting good I will definitely jump in.

Stoked to see what happens over the next few months with it.

I still believe NvTrueHDR is the way to go GeForce 551.61 WHQL driver download & discussion (20) I'm 100% still sticking with NvTrueHDR because it's driver level HDR and not just a reshade filter. I don't need to install it, it's what the NVIDIA App (and GFE previously) uses under the hood, and I have zero issues with it.
